Having always been fascinated by God's creation and
being especially taken with the intense beauty of jungle wildlife and plants,
we have been actively involved in keeping, raising, and breeding many exotics
over the past thirty years. Reptiles, exotic plants, parrots and primates
are common occupants of our home. We have kept several breeds of dogs,
specializing in the breeding, showing and racing of Siberian Huskies. You
know...real dog people!
So naturally, when my fifteen
year old, Jesse, decided that he just had to have a house cat, I tried
to convince him that our Pomeranians were really fat, fuzzy cats! He didn't
buy it. He had heard me talking about this beautiful new breed of cats
that were bred from a wild leopard cat. Before long we were searching for
reputable breeders and learning all we could. Soon I was wondering how
I could have overlooked such an obviously perfect pet for so long! An exotic
looking jungle cat that was friendly, playful and social?
It wasn't long before we brought home our very first
kitten. Did I say kitten? I meant first two kittens! Yes, we were sold
on Bengals. Besides the exotic look and wonderful personality, what "dog
person" can resist a cat that plays fetch, enjoys jumping into bathtubs
and kiddy (now kitty) pools, and never tires of endless play until it's
time to sleep on your lap? OK, so maybe I'm a little prejudiced. Our Bengals
squiggled their way "Right" into our hearts. So much so, that we decided
that we wanted to be more than just owners.
We began breeding and showing our Bengals and that
gave birth to Jungletales Cattery. We are very thankful for the many excellent
breeders who have taken up and continued the work that Jean Mill began,
of preserving the wild look of the Asian Leopard Cat in a friendly, domestic
breed. The Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) when bred to a domestic cat produces
an outcross (F1). The first three generations (F1, F2, F3's) are considered
foundation cats. It is the F4 or fourth generation that may be registered
and shown as the Bengal breed. These are the beautiful "domestic
leopard look-a-likes" that are gaining in popularity here and abroad.
We hope you enjoy the pictures you see on our site.
